The local chapter of the PEO (Philanthropic Educational Organization) invites you to take part in their fundraiser by shopping for a new to you purse.
The group will host a “Fashionista Purse Resale” during Fiesta week on June 12 at the Montevideo Community Center.
The event begins at 7:00 a.m. and will run to 4:00 p.m.
“The money raised goes toward educational funds, grants for local women’s organizations and special projects,” said Judy Stendahl, Corresponding Secretary with PEO.

Founded in 1869, PEO has over 300,000 members in over 6,000 chapters throughout the United States and Canada.
The mission of the group is to “make a difference in the lives of women,” said member Sandy Thompson. “We’re women helping women.”
Locally the group has contributed support or dollars to the elementary schools, Women’s rural advocacy programs, local food shelves, boys and girls clubs among others.
“We have a fundraiser each year at Christmas time and we try to give back,” said Stendahl.

The group has been collecting purses for the better part of the year in preparation for the June 12 event.
“We’ve got over 350 purses,” smiled Thomp-son. “It’s been fun.”
The women of the local PEO have cleaned and “refurbished” each purse in preparation for the sale.
The group has gotten together at the home of Sandy Thompson for the past several months once per week and organized and cleaned the purses.
“Prices range from $3 on up to $50,” said Stendahl.
“We have all styles, brands and prices to meet your fashion taste,” said Thompson.
Be sure and stop up to the Community Center and find that perfect purse for your use, to give as a gift or just to put in your closet for that perfect accessory on a special occasion.
