The Granite Falls Police Department has obtained a confession of guilt from a teenager in regard to the vandalism at the Popcorn Stand in downtown Granite Falls last week.
The stand, which is owned by the local Kiwanis Club, had a window shattered by a piece of brick in the early morning hours of Tuesday, June 3. In addition, a chunk of road asphalt was hurled at the stand but deflected off the west window frame and did not break that glass.
According to investigating Granite Falls Police Officer Brian Struffert, the Granite Falls Bank turned over a surveillance video from a nearby camera that showed images of four youngsters in the vicinity at the estimated time of the incident.
The video led to the identification and questioning of the four young people during which one of them confessed to throwing the brick through the north window of the stand.
Charges related to the case are expected to be filed shortly.
