Project Turnabout Addiction Recovery Center, based in Granite Falls, will expand its support for women’s addiction recovery with the purchase of a shared living residence in the City of Willmar. The residential property, formerly owned by the Hulstrand family, is located just off Ella Avenue. The two-story, historic colonial home will offer an independent, transitional, sober living opportunity for up to seven women who are taking the next steps in their recovery journey following treatment for drug, alcohol or problem gambling addiction.
Mike Schiks, CEO/Executive Director of Project Turnabout, said the agency’s investment in the home for women is a long-term commitment. “We have recognized for some time the need for women to have a place to transform their lives to continue their recovery in the community,” Schiks stated. “This property has many of the features we were looking for to support women in their recovery as they connect with Willmar community resources, job opportunities, education, and with each other.”
Project Turnabout plans to renovate the home and property in the coming weeks to make it secure, safe, and comfortable for multiple-resident living. “Our goal is to be open for tenants by early this fall,” said Schiks. “We aspire that this home will be an extension of Project Turnabout’s commitment to a quality environment that supports people who seek recovery from the disease of addiction. Some women completing our residential treatment programs have nowhere to go as they seek to rebuild their lives. This new women’s recovery residence in Willmar will provide the stepping stones they need to help in their long-term success. We’re excited about this, and we are open to existing and new partnerships within Willmar and Kandiyohi County that can benefit the women who will live here. Individuals or organizations having programs designed to align with the mission for this new property are encouraged to contact us.”
Project Turnabout offers a full continuum of care for individuals and families affected by chemical dependency and/or gambling disorders. Project Turnabout’s affordable treatment services include: inpatient/residential, outpatient, continuing care and transitional living services for men and women seeking to reclaim their lives from the disease of addiction.
