The Granite Falls Historical Society is hosting a public meeting on Thursday, July 31 to discuss possibilities to save and re-purpose the Yellow Medicine County Courthouse.
Yellow Medicine County is abandoning the structure in order to establish new space amenable to the needs of the present day county court system. Unless a new, sustainable vision for the structure is developed, present planning by the county will see it torn down.
The meeting will take place at 7:00 p.m. in the Granite Falls City Hall. All area community members interested in saving the structure are encouraged to bring their energy and ideas, history related or otherwise, to take part in what is hoped will be a wide-spread community driven project.
Questions, contact Historical Society Member Mary Gillespie at 320-309-0092. Coffee and cookies will be served.
