Guy Stevermer
This Friday Guy Stevermer, takes the stage.
Eclectic and excellent, Stevermer will blow you away with his talent and breadth of material. He admits that he has to review the material to keep it fresh, but has the ability to play some 500 to 600 songs.
Stevermer built up his repertoire with over 50 years of musical study and practice. He cites Roy Clark, Chad Atkins and Les Paul as influences and plays a lot of classic 50s and 60s, a little country, a fair amount of blues and a good dose of jazz, but takes pride in the fact that he fits no pre-defined style or category.
While some musicians focus on poetic lyrics, Stevermer, while he does exercise his vocals, puts special emphasis on the original melodies which he develops around  previously written songs.
“I’ve drawn from many artists over the years,” said Stevermer. But, “I don’t want to sound like anyone else. I make each song my own.”
Stevermer says that audiences enjoy going back and rehashing the  classics that he plays with passion and gusto.  Emphasizing that “Bootlegger’s is a great place to eat,” he commented that “with   the variety of entertainment that you’re going see every week, you should give [the local musicians] an ear and see what they have to offer... you might be surprised.”
