February 8th will be the 100th Anniversary of Boy Scouts of America.
In honor of this milestone, Cub Scout Pack 291 is hosting a coffee and cookie celebration that every Scout will remember for a long time. To commemorate this occasion, they would like to invite anyone who has ever been involved with cub scouts in any way to join them!
The celebration will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 9, at the Granite Falls American Legion. They hope to see many Scout alumni, Eagle Scouts, and past Scout leaders. You are also welcome to stay for their den meetings at 6:30 and to join the current ranks to recite the Scout Oath in unison, and the placing of the colors.
Now is a great opportunity for Scout alumni to ‘dust off’ an old uniform and show their Scout spirit and, every Granite Falls resident, with or without a connection to Scouting, is invited to join the festivities.
Granite Falls Pack 291 currently has 20 active boys (grades 1st - 5th) and conducts many volunteer efforts for the local community. These include assisting with the cemetery clean up at the city cemetery each spring, soldier popcorn packages, and numerous independent scout projects.
The Pack also participates in various activities such as camping, fishing, building, and citizenship activities. Those who have a Scout story to share or who would like more information on the Granite Falls BSA Centennial Celebration, contact Tanya Friese at: tanyafriese@mvtvwireless.com.
