1. Local cowboy Tanner Aus took a run at the National Finals Rodeo in December as a bareback riding competitor Aus came out of the NFR as the Round 9 Bareback Riding Champion

2. YME’s Silhouettes Dance Team travelled to state for the 20th year in a row. The Silhouettes took 7th at State for High Kick and 3rd place for Jazz.

3. The Sting took home a win 43-14 over the Thunderhawks and for the first time since 2009 YME was able to bring home the paddle, a trophy given to the winner each season of the Montevideo vs. YME game.

4. Josh Hoernemann competed in the shot put event at the section meet at Hamline. He threw a third place earning 47-05.25, missing the State qualification by a single spot.

5. Miles Jenson led the tennis team with a 1-1 record during the section play. Jenson was the only player to progress to the second round of the tournament, losing to Jared Saue of Montevideo 6-0, 6-0.

6. Mason Parsons won first place in a longboarding competiton in Fairbault. This is impressive in it’s own right, but Mason had only been practicing for about three months prior. 

7. Anna McCosh was named all conference for both basketball and golf for her impressive performance and leadership on the court and the green.

8. Coach Jeff Lalim was named the Section 6A Assistant Coach of the year by the Tennis Coaches’ Association!

9. Quad County Wrestling had Ayden Friese, Ethan Thein, Kirby Winson, and Hayden Johnson compete in the massive state tournament at  the Xcel Energy Center. 

10. The Volleyball girls made it to the second round of sectionals, shutting out Lac qui Parle Valley before losing to MACCRAY
