Douglas Arnold Agre, 70, passed away at Good Shepard Hospice in Auburndale, Florida surrounded by his family on Tuesday, May 9, 2017. He was born on March 2, 1947 in Granite Falls, Minnesota to Arbie and Agnes (Engen) Agre. Doug attended Granite Falls High School, Class of 1965, as an athlete and scholar. He graduated from St. Cloud State University, Class of 1969, with a degree in Business and Finance. He was honored to have served in the U.S. Army circa 1969-1971 and was a proud veteran. Upon completion of his service, he was hired by State Farm Insurance and proudly worked there for 34 years. Throughout his tenure he earned his CPCU designation, served a term as the Brainerd Kiwanis President, was active in Trinity Lutheran Church amongst other charitable activities. He retired to Lake Ashton in Lake Wales, Florida where some of his favorite activities included golfing, playing with his grandchildren, cards, fishing, hunting and socializing. He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Susan; children, John (Andrea) and Alison (Jake); four grandchildren, Gavin, Garrett, Gretchen and Abigail; nephew Kyle (Rachael) and nieces Stacy (Jason) and Kristin (Jody). He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Neil. He now joins them in Heaven. Doug had a strong sense of family, faith, community, work ethic and was a very caring, generous and kind individual. He will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him. A memorial service is being planned for July 2017 in Minnesota. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Doug’s name to Good Shepard Forsyth Hospice House in Auburndale, Florida.
