The Granite Falls Area Community Foundation (GFACF) continues to adhere to the Mission to provide opportunities for our community to connect the legacy of the past to tomorrow’s dreams through charitable giving and grant making. We are proud to report the grants provided to the area communities this past year have been used to provide programs for children, youth and elders, restore historical artifacts, enhance the Arts, support medical services and serve the needy.

As of the end of fiscal year 2016 the Endow-ment Fund had a balance of $173,219 which allowed for the granting of $7,075. In addition, the Reimer Foundation granted $1,200. Contin-ued financial support of the GFACF will assure future grants that will enhance our communities. The GFACF is overseen by the Southwest Initiative Foundation (SWIF) who assists the Board of local citizens in the management of the funds. The Board members are the ones who complete the fund-raising tasks but also have the pleasure of making the grant awards at the annual event.

Currently the Board members include Hazel Carter, Ron Fromm, Rich Hagen, Peg Heglund, Ruby Hieb, Molly Hoff, Alyssa Johnson, Pat Kubly, and Jussi Lehti. The Annual Grant Award Event was held in November at the Granite Run Golf Club. The Reimer’s hosted the event. The speaker was Jerrid Sebesta who provided insightful information in a humorous way regarding personal finances. All agreed his message was thought provoking.
