YME boys and girls golfers were at Olivia Golf Course on Monday, May 22. The boys were competing in a triangular meet in Olivia against area powers LqPV and BOLD. The BOLD golfers scored a team score of 160 to beat Camden Conference Champion LqPV by 6 strokes. YME finished 3rd with a 191. Meet medalist was Mason Mages with a two under par round of 34. Sam Ohliger led the Sting with a 43. Ben Rillo with a 49, Bryant Bestland with a 49, and Bret Harr with a 50 totaled the team score of 191. The girls did not have a team score at the meet which was won by BOLD with a 168, followed by LqPV with a 176, and Springfield with a 178. Meet medalist was Rachel Halvorson with a 38. Anna McCosh was the low score for the Sting with a 53. Sam Anderson shot a 61 and Madison Ohliger added a 68. YME will have two girls playing in the Section 3AA Golf Tournament at Oakdale Golf Course in Buffalo Lake on Wednesday, May 24. Anna McCosh, YME 11th grader along with teammate 10th grader Madison Ohliger hope to play well and possibly advance to play the following week at the same site. The Sting boy’s team will compete in the Section 3AA Tournament at Oakdale on Thursday, May 25. Sam Ohliger, recently named All Conference in the Camden, will lead the Sting hopefuls. Ben Rillo will tee off second for the boys. Ben has been playing well lately, finishing in 9th place in the Camden Conference Tournament individually last week. Sophomores Jacob Peterson and Bryant Bestland will hit 3rd and 4th in the Sting order. Bret Haar and Eric Kosak will fill out the team roster in the 5th and 6th spot.
