U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar’s “Minnesota Morning” featured breakfast pastries from Carl’s Bakery in Granite Falls. Klobuchar has visited dozens of Minnesota communities in recent months and after tasting favorite local foods, she decided to showcase these Minnesota specialties at her weekly Thursday-morning coffee gatherings in her Washington, D.C. office. “Carl’s Bakery offers a place for the community to come together,” Klobuchar said. “It is a great example of a local, family-owned business that helps boost our economy.

I was delighted to serve their treats for my guests here in Washington.” Tom and Laurie Aus own Carl’s Bakery, which has served the Granite Falls area since 1957. Aside from offering views of the Minnesota River, this local favorite is known for its donuts, “nutty long johns,” cookies, muffins, and lunch specials. Klobuchar hosts “Minnesota Morning” every Thursday when the Senate is in session and invites all Minnesotans who are visiting the capital. Visitors can hear first-hand accounts of Klobuchar’s work in the Senate, mingle with fellow Minnesotans visiting Washington, meet the Senator’s staff, and take photographs with the Senator.
