This is the Year! Mark your calendars and make plans to be part of this year’s Western Fest PRCA Rodeo! Granite Falls is honored to have a long 28 year history of putting on a big PRCA rodeo for the area communities. Because of this rich history and our wonderful community, the rodeo continues to attract more and more cowboys and cowgirls. The Western Fest committee is excited to announce that the rodeo this year will be the largest it has ever been! It will be loaded with talented competitors that are coming to our town from 17 different states. Every event on every night is going to be full as riders compete for increased added money and buckles in their respective skills. It’s going to be huge! And we want you to be a part of this historic year.
This is the biggest number of contestants we have ever had. 448 contestants will compete. There will be 28 bareback riders, 41 saddle bronc riders, 56 tie down ropers, 78 steer wrestlers, 51 team roping teams, 121 barrel racers and 65 bulls riders!! Every event from bareback to bull riding is filled, all 3 nights. There is a growing excitement within the rodeo community far and wide to pick little ole Granite Falls to be one of their stops on their rodeo circuit. We will have local contestants: Levi Berends, Brett Stall, Kyle Bloomquist, Trevor Fagen, Kathy Kaping, Tamie Jo Martin, Cody McMahon, Courtney Otto, along nationally known rodeo names like Tim O’Connell, Casey and Ty Breuer, and Lisa Lockhart.
Our hometown hero and national rodeo champion, Tanner Aus, will be riding bareback in the rodeo on Friday night, June 23rd. Start planning which night to go, because all three nights will be jam-packed with eager contestants to entertain us, great specialty acts that will wow the crowds, and a rodeo full of fun for the whole family. For more information, go to www.granitefallsprcarodeo.org. Advance Rodeo tickets will be sold until noon on Wednesday, June 21st at Citizens Alliance Bank, Granite Falls Bank, Hoffman & Brobst, Thrifty White Drug, and GF Chamber of Commerce. Some of these cowboys and cowgirls will qualify to be at the National Finals Rodeo and when you are watching on television, you will be able to say, “Hey, I saw them in Granite Falls at our rodeo!”
