Mason Parsons, son of Scott and Julie Parsons, grew up in Echo, and graduated from Yellow Medicine East this spring. Next week he will be headed to San Antonio, Texas to join the Air Force. After basic training, he plans to go into civil engineering, specifically Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC). He loves “monkeying around” with machinery, and civil engineering is an easily transferable skill set in civilian life. His dad was a mechanic, and Parsons grew up around machinery, working on engines and other projects. He plans to be in the Air Force for four to six years, but if he likes it he sees potential for a career. He’s hoping to end up in Arizona, California, or someplace warm , but is also looking forward to being able to travel. Parsons said he will miss being in a close-knit community. He eventually wants to find a wife and start a family. We and the Granite Community wish him luck.
