It's hard to believe that the Art Meander is only a few months away. I was excited to get an e-mail from AAA Living asking for photos from the Meander and our Musical Chairs progressive dinner. They will feature our events in the September/ October issue of their magazine. This year the Chamber will sell tickets for the dinner which will include all the courses rather than paying at each place. Tickets will go on sale by September 1. Follow the Facebook page for more details as they become available – www.facebook.com/MeanderOpeningNight.

The arts are a way that small towns can create a unique experience for their residents, help with employee recruitment and bring visitors to town. The Art Meander is certainly a great example of this and brings more visitors every year. Mark your calendars for September 29-October 1 with Musical Chairs on September 29 from 6-10 p.m. It's a great time to host your family and friends from out of town to show off our beautiful Minnesota River Valley. Meander brochures are available in the Chamber office. ---------- The Chamber is helping with arrangements for a meeting of the U of M Regional Sustainable Development Partnership Statewide Coordinating Committee (SCC) meeting in Granite Falls on July 25, 26, and 27.  This will bring University of Minnesota professionals from all over the state who are working on sustainability projects to our town.

I'm looking forward to showing off Granite Falls and learning more about the work they do. Previous projects have included the Meander, local food, winter greenhouses, tourism assessment and many more, all involving local sustainability. Anytime we can host state-wide meetings, it's an opportunity for our town to shine. ---------- Thank you to everyone who attended this past Saturday's Riverside Market and Muse. The weather was great, the music was wonderful and the vendors said they had a good day. The next event is Saturday, August 12 with a concert by Jerry Ostensoe that starts at 1:30 p.m. Any type of vendor is welcome, we have a large plaza space, riverside road and even across the bridge in Rice Park that could be filled with vendors! June's Market and Muse acting and music workshops will culminate in performances of "Enemy of the People" on August 18, 19 and 20. The "Walking Theater" will start in Rice Park, move to the Popcorn Stand and end up at the American Legion. Tickets on sale now at the Chamber office. _________
