Kyle Klausing is excited to begin working as the news editor at the Advocate Tribune. Originally from St. Louis Park, MN, Klausing graduated from the University of Minnesota, Morris in 2016 with degrees in History, Spanish, and Latin American Studies.
His main interests include reading, drawing, biking, and playing the cello. Additionally, Klausing enjoys writing about current events. In college, he wrote for the student newspaper and helped edit and write news stories. "I love the freedom that writing gives me. The writing process really forces you to take a moment and reflect on your own opinions and beliefs, which I think is important in our age of distraction and instant gratification," Klausing commented.
Although he grew up in the cities, during his time studying at Morris, he fell in love with the people and places of west central Minnesota. "I really appreciated the friendly, good natured attitude everybody showed towards me," Klausing said. "Being from the cities, everything was new to me, but the people I meet made me feel right at home." He added that he hopes to get involved in the community and learn more about the Granite Falls area.
This is the first time he has edited a newspaper. "It is certainly daunting, but I look forward to the challenges and opportunities. Local journalism is incredibly important since we are the ones responsible for documenting the history of our communities."
Klausing is excited to integrate into the Granite community.
