He was born on November 6, 1956 to Lawrence and Jeanne (Munson) Schaub in Wheaton. On May 15, 1976, Steve married Cathy Jo Williams in Alexandria. Steve was passionate about his profession in engineering. He began work at Hall Engineering in Alexandria in 1976. He and Cathy later moved to Breckenridge where he accepted a position with Wilkin County as an Engineering Technician. In 1988, after 11 years with Wilkin County, Steve was hired as the Assistant County Engineer of Yellow Medicine County. He was still employed in this position at the time of his passing. Steve was also an active member of the Granite Falls City Council.

Steven’s favorite activity was spending time with his family. He enjoyed losing at nearly all board games to his three daughters (and being a poor sport about it), spending time with Izzie the wonder dog and wife, Cathy, hunting, fishing, golfing, gardening and lamenting about Minnesota sports. In his free time, Steve loved wood working. He created man wonderful furniture pieces for family members, including a bar that he would frequent (pour another Grain Belt Premium please!). We all miss him dearly. The fond memories and humorous stories about him will live on. Steve always knew how to get us laughing and his one-liners were priceless. He was the best dad, husband, brother, uncle and joker we could have ever asked for. As a family, we are better for having him in our lives and his spirit remains in our hearts.

Steve was preceded in death by his mother, Jeanne, and father, Lawrence, nephew Brennan and various aunts and uncles.

He is survived by his wife, Cathy; his daughters Shannon (Tim) Pourciau, Becky, Katie and Izzie the wonder dog; his sister Kristi (Phil) Seehafer; nephews Sean Zimny, Cody Seehafer, niece Anna (Luke) Ammann and their children Avery and Parker, uncles Daryl Schaub and Dik Munson (Jane Altberg).
