This week the Yellow Medicine East Drama Club will perform Kiss me Kate. Kiss me Kate is an integrated musical that features a production of Shakespeare’s the Taming of the Shrew and the story of a conflict between the Director/Star Fred and his leading lady and ex-wife Lilli.
Choir teacher Jeff Iverson said he and the Drama Club chose this play to tackle the challenge of performing Shakespeare, and also features enjoyable American Jazz music in the songs. Iverson was impressed with how well the students pulled off memorizing the Shakespearean language. You don’t need to be familiar with the Taming of the Shrew to understand the plot. Iverson describes the show as “an entertaining and unique theater experience for our community.”
The shows are Thursday, Nov. 9th and Friday, Nov. 10th at 7 p.m., and Saturday, Nov. 11th at 2 p.m.
