Small Business Saturday was a fun day in Granite Falls. It was great to see so many shoppers walking around carrying the free tote bags, children visiting Santa and participating in the scavenger hunt, adults and children enjoying the horse-drawn wagon rides and cup of hot chocolate.
Shop owners shared that they had a great day of sales. Small Business Saturday is a national event but shopping local should be on our minds every day of the year. Thank you to the Granite Falls Network Community organization and Nancy Fiegen for their hard work organizing the morning's event. Thank you to Thrifty White Drug for hosting Santa in the afternoon. And thank you to everyone who came to shop and enjoy a great community event!
The chamber is working to bring more visitors and local residents into our stores. Everything we do to add events and activities will revitalize our town, make it easier to recruit new employees and support our businesses. The Riverside Voices art project and River Walk will bring a unique experience for shoppers and visitors, this project will continue next summer with planning workshops over the winter. If you have ideas for the Granite Falls Chamber and CVB, join us at our strategic planning session on December 12, 6-8 p.m. at The Rock. We want to hear from our members!
If you would like to be on the planning committee for a new event on June 15, 2018 which will be a 1940s-themed event downtown the day before the Ray Fagen Memorial Air Show, stop in to the Chamber office or come to the strategic planning meeting. The Chamber also needs new board members beginning in 2018. The Chamber board meets once a month during over the noon hour.
The Elf on the Footbridge holiday shopping passes are already out in most shops or stop into the Chamber office to pick up your card. When it's full, you can drop it off at either bank or the Chamber office. The drawing will be on December 21 for a total of $500 in Chamber Bucks.
Beginning December 9, look for the little stuffed elves in local shops which will have deals, coupons and giveaways attached to them. And you can keep the elf! Watch out for that Elf that will be visiting local stores and locations during the last two weeks before Christmas.
Happy Holidays in Granite Falls!
