Uffda, excitement is growing for Ole and Lena Days activities! Get your tickets for Roger Radley's comedy show on January 27 at the Rock. This will be the only major fundraiser this year for the Granite Falls Area Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber's Community Celebration will include a delicious buffet dinner including the Rock's famous ribs! You'll have the chance to bid on some fun silent auction items, too, including a couple of weekend getaways.
Get into the fun with the Medallion Hunt which starts Monday, January 29 and goes until both Ole and Lena are found. $100 in Chamber Bucks goes to whoever finds these small wooden medallions that can be hidden in any public space in Granite Falls. Clues are posted on the Ole and Lena Days facebook page, at the Chamber office and on KDMA radio.
Love yer Lefsa is a shopping event on Saturday, February 3, taste lefsa with wild and wonderful toppings or dips in your local shops. Bring the entire family on February 3 to the Kiwanis Pancake Feed and the Sons of Norway and craft show at Minnesota West, then taste some lefsa with your shopping trip afterwards. Prairie’s Edge Casino Resort gets in on the fun with their Ole and Lena show on February 2. Granger Smith at the Firemen's Dance is on February 3. Support your local organizations and attend these fun activities !
I just got off the phone with Ashley Hanson from Placebase Productions. We are collaborating on some creative and transformative projects for Granite Falls using the arts as a tool to enhance all parts of community life, even in places you don't expect. Stay tuned to hear more about this project!
We are also working on a Community Karaoke night in downtown Granite Falls on June 15, the evening before the Fagen Air Show. A big band from New Ulm, the Echos, have already been booked to play from 6:30-9:30 and there will be a 1940s costume contest and dance lessons. If you or your organization would like to be on the committee for this event, contact the Chamber office. Food and other vendors are needed. As well as the air show, The Fagen WWII Museum brings visitors to Granite Falls from all over the country. Bus tours often are looking for an extra stop and I have one already booked for the Volstead House and Prohibition Story tour.
