Michael George Hall passed away peacefully in his sleep at home in Santa Rosa, surrounded by his wife and loved ones on the morning of New Year’s Day, after a three year courageous battle with cancer. A celebration of Michael’s life will be Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 2 p.m. at John Ash/Vintners Inn, 4350 Barnes Road, Santa Rosa. In lieu of flowers, a donation to St. Joseph Memorial Hospice or the charity of your choice, is preferred.
Born January 25, 1940 in Granite Falls, to parents Aaron and Esther Hall and loving brother to Jim, MaryAnn, Danny, Kathy, and Arden. The family enjoyed fishing, hunting, politics, gardening and growing the family’s prized Gladiolas. In 1958 he married Sharon Peterson and they raised four children Barb (Brad), Brad (Amanda), Tim, and Tom.
Michael later married Linda Schmidt, and enjoyed a successful career in sales in Chicago. He moved west to California in 1998. Soon after, Michael married Nanci Cossins in 1999 and gained two more sons, Michael and Tim Cossins, a daughter-in-law, Lori, and two grandchildren.
Through- out their marriage, they enjoyed trips to Hawaii, Paris, New York City, Spring Training in Arizona, and playing golf with dear friends at Northwood. Michael was a devoted Chicago Cubs fan and an avid sports fan in general. His knowledge of history and global events gave him the foundation to be an astounding storyteller of all things historical. After several years as International Sales Manager for Brevini International, Michael retired in 2008.
Although he endured several medical setbacks in recent years, and a cancer diagnosis in 2013, his mind was focused on regaining his health and his heart was open to all those who showered him with love, laughter, and optimism. Michael’s wicked sense of humor and wisdom will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Michael is survived by his cherished wife, Nanci. His sisters MaryAnn and Kathy, his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
