Some say if you want to bowl a 300 in the game of life, then you do it by being of service to your neighbor. On the morning of Saturday, February 24, Granite Bowl is hosting an opportunity to serve your neighbor in a big way with the 35th Annual Bowl for Rice Hospice event. Bowlers may gather as many team members as desired and will seek out sponsorships with all proceeds going to support the patients and programs of your local Rice Hospice satellite in Granite Falls.

Rice Hospice is a nonprofit organization providing end-of-life care to residents of west central Minnesota and will also be coordinating events held at bowling alleys in Benson, Dawson, Graceville, Montevideo, New London and Ortonville in addition to Granite Falls.

"The money raised at each alleys event goes into a fund to support that area community's Rice Hospice location" said Jackie Thompson, Assistant Nurse Manager for the Granite Satellite location, "The events not about winning or competition, the bowl is about celebrating what Rice Hospice does".

Jenelle Donner has been the owner of Granite Bowl for about a year and half. This is only her second experience with the event but Donner is eager to support and promote her community as a local business owner. "Its been a good year in a half, open bowl is popular and dollar Sundays" said Donner, "With Kandiyohi and others closing, bowlers have no where to go." The cozy alley offers food daily and leagues starting in fall.
