Minneota got off to a strong start in their game against the Granite Legion Monday night. They ended the top of the first inning with a 0-5 lead. In the bottom of the 1st, Bennet Knapper hit a double, then stole 3rd. Ethan Peterson did a sacrifice hit to get him home.

In the top of the 2nd, pitcher Angel Jimenez made an impressive dive to catch a foul ball. Minneota put a runner on 3rd, but center fielder Jordan Odegard caught a ball to prevent the run. In the bottom of the 2nd, the Legion had two hits caught. Nick Lindstrom was up to bat, and didn’t see any pitches he liked. He got up to a full count before striking out without swinging once. Minneota loaded the bases in the top of the 3rd. The batter tried to bunt. The ball flew straight up, and catcher Ayden Friese dove to make the catch, but missed, and the runner scored. Dalton Anderson took over pitching.

Shortstop Bennet Knapper tossed the ball to 2nd for an out, but the 3rd base runner scored another run. During the next at bat, the 1st base runner slowly stole 2nd to lure the ball there. The 3rd base runner took off. Lindstrom hurled the ball to the plate in time for Friese to tag him out.
