The Sting girls faced Lakeview to kick off the homecoming week of games. Starting off, both teams were scoring quick kills, there wasn't much rallying. YME got a small lead 12-7 before a timeout. YME kept up momentum performed solid defense, getting up to 17-8 before Lakeview called another timeout. Lily Jaenisch took over serving, she got an ace and set the Sting up well to get to 24 points with spikes from Mackenzie Dyrdahl, Anayansi Flores, and Meeghen Dahlager. One serve went out, but the Laker's return hit went out to give YME the set 25-12.

The second set started with a long rally. Both teams had members dive flat to save the ball, and the rally ended with Hinz tipping it to an open spot in the center of the opponent's court. Dahlager and Dyrdahl had consecutive backwards hits to save a wild hit. The score was ties 6-6 before the Sting got a run of kills in a row. Their solid offense got them up 17-8. Lily Jaenisch got another ace, her served crawled over the net and dropped. A few communication errors let the Lakers get some points and narrow the gap 22-19.

After a brief timeout, YME refocused. Jadyn Sakry and Flores blocked, and Flores had the set winning block 25-21.

In the third set, between Dahlager's Kills and Lily Jaenisch's serving, the Sting got on a rally, up 10-3. Another bundle of bad hits got the Lakers some points 10-8, until Dahlager set it up for Dyrdahl to spike and break the rotation. YME scored but also messed up several spikes, tieing the game again at 18-18. The teams went back and forth, Dahlager got an ace and a spike that bounced out from a girl's arms. 10 had the winning block 25-21.

Coach Fadness reported, "We've picked up the tempo in practices. We went back to the drawing board and have been being very disciplined. It took all of us to do so and we made a commitment to each other and it shows. Tonight was drastically different than Thursday last week.”

“We had a little hesitation after some errors, but we were able to get past that.”

“Lily Jaenisch has been doing a great job stepping up with serving, something we were having some troubles with. She got us on a five point run and a six point run, which is exactly what we asked her to do.” “It's fun to see the sweep on homecoming week. The student section has been great."
