Fluctuating temperatures on a  windy Thursday, Jan. 13, led to snow on roads that became compacted and turned icy toward nightfall. A Yellow Medicine School bus was involved in an accident with a red Chevy Lumina driven by Shannon Marie Koehl traveling along Highway 67 toward Clarkfield. The bus, heading east, drove into the ditch in order to avoid the automobile as it drifted toward the bus, but the Lumina was still clipped on its drivers side headlight. At the end of the bus route, only one student was reported on the bus at the time of the accident and neither the student nor bus driver suffered injuries. Koehl was reported to be pregnant and was taken to the Granite Falls Hospital as a precaution.
