The Granite Falls Fire Department was called to a fire at the home of Kim and Chuck Savig in Wang Township northeast of Granite Falls on Monday evening shortly after 8:00 p.m.
The fire, which caused extensive damage to the house is still under investigation, but is believed to have originated in the garage. No one was injured, although the Savigs were said to have lost family pets.
The Fire Department was back to the scene at approximately 2:00 a.m. after the fire flared up again and engulfed the south side of the house as well as the roof before being extinguished again.
Fund established
A fund has been established to aid the Savig family in recovering from the loss they suffered as a result of the fire.
Monetary donations are being accepted at Citizens State Bank in Granite Falls and can be dropped off at the bank at any time.
