A Tribute Lunch honoring local DFL Senator Gary Kubly will be held at noon on January 15 at the Prairie’s Edge Casino Resort by the DFL-7th District Central Committee.
Last September, Senator Kubly was diagnosed with the neurological disease ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.
This past fall, he was reelected to his third straight term in the State Senate following three terms in the House of Representatives. According to information from the DFL, he will return to St. Paul to complete his term of office.
United States, DFL, Senators Amy Klobuchar and Al Franken will be in attendance for the tribute with a number of other state representatives including, DFL-Sentate minority leader Tom Bakk and local DFL-House Representatives Lyle Koenen and Andrew Falk.
Neither Collin Peterson nor Governor Mark Dayton are expected to be in attendance due scheduling conflicts.
Community members are invited to attend the luncheon, but are asked to RSVP for the lunch no later than Wednesday, January 11. Otherwise, individuals can show up for the program, expected to begin between 1:00 and 1:30 p.m.
