On Thursday, Granite Falls City Council members Bill Miller and Scott Peterson awoke to find that their tires had been slashed.
Only one tire at the Miller household was knifed while three tires, between two separate vehicles, were slashed at the Peterson’s.
According to the Granite Falls Police Department, the council members were the only two city residences to report such activity, and the assumption is that it was linked to their council positions.
Neither member serves together on a board apart from the council and they were unable to pinpoint what else might have resulted in their automobiles being targeted.
In a letter to the editor published in this issue of the A/T, EDA member Tonie Peterson, wife of council Scott Peterson, wrote, “I know public service is a thankless job, and you can't please everyone all of the time. But when you decide to run or be a part of civic activities, it's because you want to better your community.”
