Rosella Christiansen, 92, of Marshall and formerly of Granite Falls, died Sunday, September 23, 2018 at Knute Nelson Care Center in Alexandria. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 27 at 1:30 p.m. at Salem Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Rev. Matt Philaya will officiate and interment will be at Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens, rural Montevideo. Visitation will be held on Thursday for one hour before the service at the church.
Rosella M. (Barry) Christiansen was born March 20, 1926 in Hector Township, Renville County, the daughter of Gus and Edith (Nelson) Barry. She was baptized at Palmara Lutheran Church and confirmed at the Swedish Lutheran Church in Hector. Rosie attended country school and graduated from Hector High School in 1944. She worked as a clerk and bookkeeper at Gamble Skogmo in Hector for several years. She was united in marriage with LeVoy Christiansen October 10, 1948 at Swedish Lutheran Church in Hector.
They farmed in the Granite Falls area. Rosie worked at the bakery in Granite Falls for many years. LeVoy died October 26, 2001 and she continued to live on the farm until moving to Boulder Estates in Marshall in 2013. She enjoyed gardening and canning, reading, coloring, doing embroidery and baking.
She is survived by two sons: Gary (Marilyn) Christiansen of Alexandria, and Ricky (Debra) Christiansen of Marshall; four grandchildren: Jason (Soua) Christiansen, Tammy (Steven) Placzek, Jon Christiansen, and Sara Christiansen; ten great-grandchildren: Josie, Kyle, Ben, Sydney, Gwen, Tyson, Daniel, Andrew, Anja and Leah; two sisters: Gloria Jakobitz of Buffalo Lake, and Arlene Burgstahler of Hutchinson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, LeVoy; and one sister, Adeline Milbeck. Arrangements with Anderson Funeral Home of Montevideo.
