Margery Cunningham, 77, of Wood Lake died Monday, December 28, 2009 in her home in Wood Lake.
Memorial services were held Saturday, January 2, 2010 in the United Methodist Church in Wood Lake.

Margery Mabel (Doose) Cunningham was born at home in Wood Lake on November 6, 1932 to Fred and Mabel (Stewart) Doose. She was baptized and confirmed in the United Methodist Church in Wood Lake. Margery attended Wood Lake Elementary School and Granite Falls High School graduating in 1951. She then went to the Twin Cities where she attended Business College before entering the Waves in 1953. While serving in the military she met Raymond Newton Cunningham and they were united in marriage in 1955. Margery and her daughters lived on the West Coast until she returned to Wood Lake in 1964. She worked as head teller and loan officer in the Wood Lake Bank for over 30 years retiring in 1994. She had been very active in the Wood Lake Methodist Church, as Sunday School Teacher, Conference Delegate, church treasurer, Ladies Aid member and served on several committees. She also was a member of the American Legion and delivered Meals on Wheels. After her retirement she loved to travel around the world. She went to Greece, the Great Wall of China and Scotland doing family history research for her family genealogy hobby as well as many other places. She also loved to learn, taking classes at Southwest State College in Marshall and continuing her love of education. Margery enjoyed the theater, reading, antiques and spending time with her friends and family. Her greatest joy was found in her family. She wore the title of grandmother and great grandmother with great pride.
Margery is survived by her daughters; Thelma Gomes (Rogerio) of Brookings, South Dakota, Dawn Heinonen (Raymond) of Bloomington, and April King (James) of Young America; brother Darold Doose (Gladys) of Granite Falls; and sister Evelyn Kjos of Savage. Also surviving are her grandchildren; David Duek, Brett Gomes, Kyle Gomes, Kolton Gomes (Tina), Jonathon Heinonen, Patrick Heinonen (Rachel), Jesse Warnke, Amber Jensen (Shawn), Caitlin Warnke, Katrina King, Daniel King and Mitchell King and seven great grandchildren; Brook Jensen, Nick Jensen, Katie Jensen, Estrella Gomes, Jack Riley Gomes, Logan Heinonen and Connor Scott-McAliley. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Arrangements were handled by the Sunset Funeral and Cremation Association of Echo and Wabasso.
