Obituary: Bob Minsaas

    Bob O. Minsaas, 83, of Granite Falls, died on Thursday, February 18, 2010 at the Granite Falls Manor after an extended illness.
    Memorial services will be held on Monday, March 1, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Granite Falls. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.
    A private family burial will take place at a later date. 
    Bob O. Minsaas was born on October 7, 1926 in Chippewa County to Bernt and Sicelia (Sandberg) Minsaas. He was baptized and confirmed at Stony Run Lutheran Church. He attended school in Granite Falls and graduated from Granite Falls High School in 1944. Bob entered the U.S. Army in January of 1945 and served in the Japan occupation. He was honorably discharged in November of 1946 and returned to the Granite Falls area. Bob was united in marriage to Dagny Kraakaas on June 20, 1947 at Stony Run Lutheran Church. Bob was the director of the Minnesota High School Rodeo for 20 years and worked as a printer at the Granite Falls Tribune for 27 years. He also was a manager of Western Printers and drove semi for Tjosvold Equipment.
    Bob was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Minnesota State High School Rodeo, the American Legion, and a lifetime member of the VFW. He enjoyed horses, motorcycles, and working with children.
    Bob is survived by his wife Dagny of 61 ½ years; son Tom (Tricia) Minsaas of Canton, South Dakota; grandchildren: Blake and Tyler; sister-in-law Vivian Minsaas of Granite Falls; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and two sisters.
