Florence M. Roe, 83, of Herndon, Virginia, passed away Friday, December 25, 2009 at the The Johnson Center, Potomac Falls, Virginia.
    A memorial service was held on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at the Baker-Post Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Manassas, Virginia. 
    Interment will take place at a later date in Redding Memorial Park, Redding, California.
    Born December 13, 1926 in Stony Run Township, Yellow Medicine County, she was the daughter of Hjalmar and Clara Solem Aadland.  On December 9, 1951 in Granite Falls, she married John Maynard Roe, who preceded her in death on October 11, 2006.
    Shortly after marriage John and Florence moved to Los Angeles, California and resided there from 1951 until John retired in 1979.  Then they spent most of their retirement years in Anderson, California in the shadow of Mount Shasta.
    Florence has lived in the Northern Virginia area for over three years, having moved from Anderson, California following John’s passing.  She was a former member of and very active in the St. James Lutheran Church in Anderson, and the Trinity Lutheran Church in Manhattan Beach, California.
    Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Richard Roe; one sister, Luella Wilson, and one brother, Percy Aadland.      Survivors include her loving son and caretaker, Jon Roe and his wife Marjorie Fullerton of Herndon; one sister, Idella Anderson of Granite Falls; and four grandchildren, Denise Alexander of Bloomington, Indiana; John Roe of Columbus, Indiana; Samantha Roe, and Diana Roe of Herndon.
