Lilian Julette (Johnson) Larson, 96, passed away at Westwood Elder Care in Granite Falls on Sunday, March 7, 2010.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, March 10, at Clarkfield Lutheran Church in Clarkfield, with Pastor Jack Torgerson officiating. Burial followed at the Clarkfield Lutheran Cemetery. The organist was Karen Donner and special music by David Rupp. Casketbearers were Lilian’s grandchildren: Carolyn Wolff, Cheryl Froland, Brenda Pederson, David Hanson, Diane Richards and Catherine Wilson.
Lilian Larson was born October 23, 1913 at Boyd, to Lars and Lena (Nelson) Johnson. She was baptized at Boyd Lutheran Church and confirmed in Norwegian at Bergen Lutheran Church. She graduated from Montevideo High School.
Lilian married Harvey Larson on June 9, 1933 in Rake, Iowa. They were the parents of five children. They moved to Clarkfield in 1950. She loved her family, doing a variety of handiwork, gardening, canning and music. She was active in her church and was a long time member of the Lisbon Garden Club. In early retirement years she enjoyed traveling and time at the lake.
Lilian is survived by her children: Rachel Froland of Montevideo, Merlin (Carol) Larson of Bloomington, Harold (Barb) Larson of Clarkfield, Kathleen Hanson of Bloomington and Roseann (Bill) Kolb of Annandale. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, 10 great great grandchildren; sister Evelyn Estabo and brother Gerhard (Virginia) Johnson. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 3 brothers and 2 sons-in-law.
