Obituary: Viola I. Neuman

    Viola I. (Thompson) Neuman, 88, of Hanley Falls, formerly of Cottonwood, died on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at Methodist Hospital in Saint Louis Park. 
    Funeral services were held on Monday, January 25, at Christ Lutheran Church in Cottonwood, with Pastor Jim Demke officiating. Burial was at Christ Lutheran Cemetery in Cottonwood.
    Viola Irene (Thompson) Neuman was born on January 14, 1922 to parents Olaf and Emma (Peterson) Thompson in Yellow Medicine Co.  She was baptized as a young child and confirmed at Silo Lutheran Church of Cottonwood.
    Viola and Ernest Neuman were married on October 15, 1943 at Cottonwood.  They were the parents of three children: Larry, Leroy and Sharon. Ernest and Viola farmed near Cottonwood for many years. They moved to Hanley Falls on August 1, 1972.  Viola remained in her home in Hanley Falls until her death.
    She is survived by her sons Larry (Mary) Neuman of Hanley Falls, Leroy (Mary) Neuman of Cottonwood; daughter Sharon (Larry) Frayseth of Bemidji; eight grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.  She is also survived by three sisters: Doris Stenerson of Tyler, Bev Anderson of Texas, Ruth Young of Arizona; brother Frank Thompson of Arizona; and many nieces and nephews.
    She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ernest in 1972; three brothers; one sister; and one great grandson.
    The family prefers memorials given to the American Cancer Society.
    Arrangements were with Lynner Funeral Home of Clarkfield.
