   Arvon Pehling, 81 of Echo, died Wednesday, January 13, 2010 in his home in Echo.
    Memorial services were held on Monday, January 18, 2010 in Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Echo.
    Arvon Norman Pehling was born October 18, 1928 to Norma and Arthur Pehling in Yellow Medicine County. Arvon was raised in the Echo Community and graduated in 1947 from Echo High School. Arvon served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was stationed at Camp Rucker, Alabama. He returned to Echo after the service and farmed near Echo. On June 26, 1976 he was united in marriage to Darlene Survis and continued farming until his retirement. Arvon enjoyed the Echo Community all his life. He enjoyed being outside working in his yard and garden and had always been a big motorcycle enthusiast.
     Those left to cherish Arvon’s memory are son Bruce Survis of Fairmont; daughters Cynthia Ukhun (Imeine) of Paris, Texas, Karen Hoppe (Ben) of Fairmont, Trudy Huse of Fairmont and Mary Survis (Tom E.), of Fairmont; sister Joanne Lhota (Don) of Big Lake; nieces Jill Griffin (Mike) of South St. Paul and Julie Barfknecht (Jim) of Lakeville; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
    He was preceded in death by his wife Darlene, his parents Norma and Arthur Pehling and a granddaughter Brandi Survis.
