Allen Enstad, 76, of Granite Falls, died on Thursday, February 11, 2010 at the Granite Falls Manor in Granite Falls. Funeral services were conducted on Monday, February 15, at the United Methodist Church in Montevideo, with Rev. Gwen Bohlke officiating.
The organist was Barb Morseth. The soloist, Alicia Enstad, sang, "I Can Only Imagine" Congregational Hymns were: "How Great Thou Art", "Amazing Grace" , and "Just A Closer Walk With Thee." The Casketbearers were Kerry Steffen, Boyd Steffen, Steve Steffen, Ernie Streich, Gary Mickels, and Rick Mickels. Honorary were: Brad Enstad, Danny Enstad, Paul Enstad, Anthony Enstad, Bryce Enstad, Keith Boysen, Bryan Enstad, and Trenton Enstad.
Interment was at Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens of rural Montevideo.
Allen Eugene Enstad was born on July 3, 1933 in Granite Falls, to Laurence and Idella (Anderson) Enstad. He graduated from Granite Falls High School in 1953. On January 12, 1957 he was united in marriage with Shirley Anderson in Sacred Heart. They made their home in Granite Falls and Montevideo. He was a plant operator for Green Co. Rock Quarry for 25 years. He also was a heavy equipment operator for Stark Bros. and worked at Hoffco in Wood Lake before retiring. Allen enjoyed fishing and working on things. He also enjoyed the Vikings and Minnesota Twins.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley; children: Mike Enstad of Granite Falls, Jeff (Colleen) Enstad of Watertown, South Dakota, Doug (Julie) Enstad of Big Stone, South Dakota, Curt (Theresa) Enstad of Willmar, Rick (Christy) Enstad of Benson, and Shelly (Jason) Seubert of Montevideo; brothers: Berger of Madison, Wisconsin, David Enstad of Granite Falls, and Dennis of Granite Falls; sisters: Corrine Steffen and Marlys Lundin all of Granite Falls; grandchildren: Paul Enstad, Bryan Enstad, Trenton Enstad, Brad (Gina) Enstad, Dan (Amber) Enstad, Jessica Enstad, Jocelyn (Jerry) Shoutz, Alicia Enstad, Anthony Enstad, Bryce Enstad, Keith Boysen, Kelsey Boysen, and Jacey Seubert; step-grandchildren: Rachel Behlings and Matthew Behlings; great-grandchildren: Emily Shoutz, Mackenzie Enstad, and Madison Enstad; and step-great-grandchildren: Colin Seidell and Savannah Enstad.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Ina Whitmore and Glenda Worsech; and a granddaughter, Trista Enstad.
