Elmer LeRoy Walls, 80, of Clarkfield, died on Wednesday, August 11, 2010.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, August 14 at Clarkfield Lutheran Church, officiated by Pastor Jack Torgersen. Interment followed at Clarkfield Lutheran Cemetery.
Elmer LeRoy Walls was born April 3, 1930 in Clarkfield, to parents Elmer H. and Helen Devota (Long) Walls. He was baptized in Clarkfield and attended Clarkfield Public School. Following school Elmer joined the United States Air Force and was stationed in France during peace time.
Elmer married Dorothy Peterson on June 9, 1956 at Granite Falls Lutheran Church. They made their home in Clarkfield where they raised their three children: Kari, Karla and Stacy. Elmer delivered milk for Oak Grove Dairy and worked at VanStelton’s Station driving bulk truck. He then worked for Consumers Co-op driving bulk truck until he retired.
He enjoyed various sports. He was a member of Clarkfield Lutheran Church, American Legion, Clark-field Fire Department and Ambulance Squad and a member of AA for 18 years. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren and his cat ‘Twister’. He enjoyed playing cards and cribbage wherever anyone would play with him and especially enjoyed his AA meetings.
Elmer moved to Valhalla Apartments in 2008. He passed away on Wednesday, August 11, 2010 after enjoying a day going to his AA meeting, getting a hair cut and stopping at the cemetery to visit Dorothy’s grave, where he passed away.
He is survived by his children: Kari (Francis) Staab of Clarkfield, Karla (and friend Bruce Lindquist) of Willmar, and Stacy of Crosby. He is also survived by grandchildren: Tasha (Jeremy) Martin, Ashley (Nathan) Klossner, Jenna (Trevor) Luepke, Daniel Walls and great grandchildren Kiersten and London Luepke and Addison and Breck Martin.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
