Obituary: Hollie Hamnes

   Hollie Hamnes, 44, of Montevideo, died Sunday, August 15, 2010 at Luther Haven Nursing Home under the care of Hospice.
    Memorial services will be held Friday, August 20 at 1:30 p.m. at the Wing-Bain Funeral Home Chapel in Montevideo. Burial will take place at the Summit Cemetery in Summit, South Dakota at a later date.            Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the Wing-Bain Funeral Home.
    Hollie May Hamnes was born February 28, 1966 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Donald and Marcella (Gronke) Draughn.  As a young child, Hollie grew up and attended school in Tennessee.  In 1977, her family moved to South Dakota and she graduated with the class of 1985 from Summit High School. Following high school she continued her education studying mechanical drafting at the technical college in Watertown, South Dakota.
    Hollie made her home in Montevideo for the last 13 years, and worked for M.T.I. and Jennie-O. Recently she has been working for Prairie’s Edge Casino in Granite Falls.
    She was a member of First Congregational Church in Montevideo and was recently baptized in July of this year.
    Hollie enjoyed being with her friends, watching NASCAR, and was once a talented high school basketball player.
    She is survived by her children: Christopher Bauer of Watertown, South Dakota; Amanda Bauer of Watertown, South Dakota; Jacquelyn Bauer of Brainerd; Brianna Bauer of Baxter; Austin and Autum Hamnes of Mandan, North Dakota; grandchildren: Ian Bauer and Arianna Bemis; father: Donald Draughn of Tennessee; sisters: Cindy (Oscar) Lowe of Tennessee; Donna Draughn of Brookings, South Dakota; Lisa (Brian) Remington of Apple Valley; brother: Kenneth Sarnowski of Kentucky; step-brother: Jan (Tammy) Clary of Tea, South Dakota.
    Hollie was preceded in death by her mother, Marcella and brother, Lawrence Sarnowski.
    Arrangements are with the Wing-Bain Funeral Hone of Montevideo.
