Obituary: Erna Reiten

    Erna Reiten, 91, of Granite Falls, died Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at the Granite Falls Manor.
    Funeral services were held on Monday, August 30 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Granite Falls.  Burial followed at Doncaster Cemetery.
    Erna Wilma Reiten was born October 12, 1918, the daughter of Paul and Anna (Drager) Henke in Wood Lake.  She was baptized on November 1, 1918 and confirmed on March 20, 1932, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wood Lake.  Erna attended St. John’s Parochial School through 8th grade and graduated from the Wood Lake High School.
    She was united in marriage to Howard Reiten at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wood Lake on August 25, 1940.
    Erna was an avid animal lover and was very fond of her special kitty “Tiger”.  She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church for 65 years and was active with various church organizations and also taught Sunday School and Bible Study.
    Erna passed on to meet her Lord and Savior on August 25, 2010, on the anniversary of their 70th wedding anniversary.            She is survived by her two sons: Gerry (Adeline) of Lake Havasu City, Arizona and Welden of Coralville, Iowa; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and extended family and friends.
    She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Howard in 2003; one sister, Alice Hartwig and a brother, Wilbert Henke.
    Arrangements were with the Wing-Bain Funeral Home of Granite Falls.
