Obituary: Ardis Estling

    Ardis Estling, 80, of Boyd, died on Monday, August 2, 2010 at her home.
    Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, August 5, 2010 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boyd, with Rev. Lori Wold officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery.        
    Ardis Jeanette (Gilsrud) Estling was born on April 1, 1930 in Montevideo to Fred and Amanda (Hermanson) Gilsrud. She was baptized and confirmed at Jevnaker Lutheran Church and graduated from Montevideo High School in 1948. On April 15, 1951 she was united in marriage to Owen Estling at Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Watson. She lived her entire married life in the Boyd area. She was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church and active in its women’s activities. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Boyd, the VFW Auxiliary in Dawson and had been active in a homemakers club. She was a bookkeeper for Central Light until her retirement. She loved watching and identifying birds, especially gold finches, orioles and cardinals, going for walks outdoors, traveling, playing cards and especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
    She is survived by her husband, Owen; two sons: Gerald (Linda) Estling of Boyd, and David (Carla) Estling of Dawson; grandchildren: Courtney (Troy) Hanson of Hancock, Jason (Tracy) Estling of Wood Lake, Jeremy Estling of Boyd, Troy (Amy) Estling of Clarkfield, Trevor Estling of Boyd and Travis Estling of Montevideo;  great-grandchildren: Claire, Carlee and Rylee Hanson, Bryce Estling and Allison and Alivia Estling;  sisters-in-law: Charlotte Gilsrud of Houston, Lorraine Gilsrud of Bloomington and Sharon Gilsrud of Longville; as well as by a number of nieces and nephews.
    She was preceded in death by her parents and bothers Vernon, DuWayne, and Ronald Gilsrud.
    Arrangements were by Anderson Funeral Home of Montevideo.
