The past few weeks had been more than a little busy for the whole crew here at the Advocate Tribune. Our annual Progress edition, which came out with last week’s paper is a very big undertaking but it is fun to tell those interesting stories and to tell folks about what all is happening around the community  and how things change.
There is lot going on and for that we can be thankful. I get a kick out of my aunts who live in and near St. Cloud. They all subscribe to the paper and often tell me that they are amazed at how much is happening around here. They say that it seems to busier here than where they live. not sure about that but I do know that we are kept on the run trying to keep up with covering all the events and the happenings in Granite Falls and Clarkfield. The Progress edition is evidence of that.             There is plenty to write about and we don’t even come close to getting at it all. We start working on the Progress edition around the first of the year and through it all we keep cranking out the weekly newspaper. It never ends and we always seem to find ourselves plenty busy.  We’d rather be busy than be where there’s not  enough news to fill our pages. Given where we live, I doubt that we will ever have that  problem.
Several organizations and  businesses take advantage of that Progress edition to tell their customers about themselves. it is a great way to spread the word about who they are and what they do. We thank them all for being a part of a very fun and important project that tells the public a whole lot about where we live and work.

At the same time we are working the annual Progress edition, we are also working on another annual project: producing and printing programs for the Section 3AA Girls and Boys High School Basketball Tournaments. There are a lot of details that go into producing those programs but it too is a lot of fun.
We have been providing the programs for several years and  the process is a fairly predicatable one. Even then there are usually a few wrinkles every year. The Athletic Directors at  the  16 Section 3AA schools  are great to work with and always help out. I have e-mailed and called some of them dozens of times. Most of them I’ve never met but feel like I know them well.
After putting those basketball  programs together, it’s a lot of fun to watch the teams move through the brackets as the tournament unfolds. It is especially fun when the home team makes a few moves like the YME girls did on Tuesday night when they beat the number one seeded Minnesota Valley Lutheran. Congratulations to Coach Bremmer and the YME Girls team. Best wishes to them and to the YME Boys Basketball during the tournaments.

In what is becoming a very strong tradition, YME is once again sending some very good wrestlers to the state tournament this coming weekend. it’s great to see Dylan Hoffman, Justin Tongen and Evan Knudson get to the state tournament. Good luck to each of them.
