On Saturday afternoon, November 3, Rory Shackelford competed in the Class A State Cross Country meet, held at St. Olaf College in Northfield. The state meet is comprised of the top two teams from each of the eight sections in the state along with the top eight runners not on the top two qualifying teams to make up a field of 176 runners, the top class A runners in the state.

Coach Ford reported, “Rory finished with a time of 17:24 in 92nd place at the state. The state meet is the most competitive field of runners that he has run against this year. There was always a large group of runners around him. It was a tremendous experience for him to step up to the starting line and compete with best class A runners in the state of Minnesota. I am extremely proud of Rory and the year he has had. This was a great way for him to end his high school cross country career, running at the state meet for the second consecutive year.”
