Montevideo 59, YME 31
Yellow Medicine East’s season of redemption would end Saturday night in Montevideo’s gymnasium as the top-seeded ThunderHawks marched through YME 59-31 in the opening round of the Section 3AA boys basketball tournament.

YME, the eight seed, would trail Montevideo by a mere six points as the teams retired for halftime. But in the second half Montevideo would begin to roll as YME began to stumble. The Sting would count 17 turnovers on the night while the ThunderHawks amassed only nine.

Montevideo will now move on to face fourth seeded Minnesota Valley Lutheran in Montevideo Thursday night.

YME finishes the year 6-18 having won as many games this season as they have in the past three years combined.

Ryan Boike and Brett Bergeson would lead Montevideo in scoring amassing 14 points apiece. Boike would also pull down 11 rebounds for the ThunderHawks.

Slashing junior guard Dylan Lindstrom, meanwhile, would lead the Sting with 12 points on the night.

Senior Brian Rosenau, in his final high school game, would—as he has done his entire basketball career at YME—leave all of himself on the court. Rosenau would score two points and garner seven rebounds, yet no statistic could be found that measures heart.
