Montevideo 57, YME 47
Montevideo would beat Yellow Medicine East for the second time this season as they defeated the Sting 57-47 Tuesday night in Montevideo.
The game would be the season finale for both teams as Sectional play is set to begin this weekend.
YME is seeded fourth while Montevideo is seeded second in the North half of the Section 3AA bracket.
The Sting will face fifth seeded Redwood Valley in the opening game of Section play this Saturday night in Granite Falls.
“We were hoping to be seeded maybe one higher, but we really didn’t help our selves with loses to Montevideo and Lac qui Parle. I thought that we were playing better than those teams the second half of the year, but it didn’t have much bearing,” said YME head coach Ryan Bremmer. “If we had upset (Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City) last week we might have jumped up, because all the teams at the top of the bracket have similar records.”
Commenting on YME’s coming match-up with Redwood, Bremmer said, “They (Redwood) have good guard play. They have a real good point guard. We played well against them last time. So I think we just have to do our thing and we’ll be okay.”
