YME 59, Redwood Valley 49,
Yellow Medicine East would falter midway through the second half to allow Redwood Valley to open up a double digit lead in the opening round of the Section 3AA playoffs.

But as YME and head coach Ryan Bremmer dialed up the defensive pressure the Sting would eventually work themselves back into the game. Then with 5:06 remaining, senior guard Aimee Johnson would bury a three from left of the circle to put the Sting in the lead for good 47-46.

YME’s defense would then make their stand and force Redwood Valley to score only two points for the remainder of the game.

Said YME head coach Ryan Bremmer, “We didn’t play very good defense for a period of time there. But I thought also that (Redwood) went on a pretty good streak where they hit a shot every trip. During that period of time we weren’t doing any thing scoring-wise. I don’t know exactly what it was for sure, but it looked like it was slipping away pretty seriously there. Credit our kids. They hung in there nice and we had some good patience on offense. We moved the ball even when we were down and were able to find some easy baskets to kind of creep back into it and then it seemed it really went the other way.”

YME (11-11)           27 32 — 59
