The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) will not require Duininck Inc., of Prinsburg, to complete an Environmental Impact Statement for a planned asphalt storage facility to be located just north of Granite Falls.
The MPCA Citizen’s Board ruled on the issue on Tuesday, voting 6-1 for a “negative declaration.” The EIS would have required extensive and costly analysis of the possible environmental or health risks of the project.
Duininck will need a Conditional Use Permit from Chippewa County, where the proposed location of the project is zoned for agricultural use, before the company can move forward with their plans. Duininck is not expected to appear before the county until August.
