With Minnesota primaries just around the corner, and real estate and yard sale season in full swing, MnDOT reminds everyone that the placement of political campaign and other advertising signage is not allowed under state law on any highway right of way. All state, county, city and township roads and highways fall under the same state law.

The Academic High Honor and Honor lists (Dean’s lists) for the past spring semester at Minnesota State University, Mankato were announced by interim Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs Brian Martensen.
More than 600 graduates were honored during the 2021-2022 academic year at Alexandria Technical & Community College. The spring commencement ceremony was held May 11, 2022 at the Runestone Community Center in Alexandria. Local students graduating are: Cole Mathiowetz, Associate of Applied Science Degree, Law Enforcement, Spring 2022.
Jason Evans from Mammoth Cave, Kentucky will be performing live music at Bluenose Gopher House on Saturday, July 16th. Evans says he’s been a songwriter as long as he can remember and writes about life in rural Kentucky.
On July 7th, Alex Schlangen was convicted of a Felony charge with a Stay of Imposition and sentenced to 15 days in jail with credit for time served of four days for an incident that occurred in Granite Falls on February 5th.
Dr. Emmy Ho, Orthopedics, and Amanda Enestvedt, Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, are now seeing patients at Avera Medical Group Granite Falls in Granite Falls, Minn. Both medical professionals are based at Avera Medical Group in Marshall, Minn. and are seeing patients in Granite Falls on an outreach basis.
The heat and scattered showers at times over the past month, have been adequate for most of our sweet corn growers. I spoke to one sweet corn grower, and she said that the corn should be ready for all of us to eat any day! For many of us, this is one of our favorite times of the year when we can enjoy fresh local sweet corn.

An incident on January 24th has led to a conviction to a Waite Park resident who failed to attend his own jury trial, submitting correspondence to the courts stating he is a “natural freeborn sovereign”.
