“Our soul waits for the Lord;

Mort Meyenburg Vicar of Healing Waters Lutheran Parish, Lutheran Seminary Student We’re back to waiting. A while ago I wrote on Psalm 25:5b, “…for you I wait all day long.” I was reminiscing about being a kid and asking, “Are we there yet?” There are many Psalms about waiting for God and I can’t help but think about what I dowhen I wait…when I wait for anything.

Minnesota CREP enrollment period ends after 5 years

Yellow Medicine Soil & Water Conservation District The Minnesota CREP (Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program) enrollment period is wrapping up after 5-years. The CREP program is intended to take marginal cropland and provide permanent protection for water through wetland restorations, filter strips and well head protection areas. This is a permanent easement where the landowner retainsownership of the land but can no longer farm or build on the land. CREP easement payments range from $ 4,4008,200 an acre for cropland, they differ for each township and are based on the counties average cost for cropland. The land can be sold at any time after the easement is recorded. If you are selling or have bought RIM ( Reinvest in Minnesota) or CREP land you should contact your local soil and waterto make sure they change the name on the easement, so the new owners get all the future documents. The Board of Water and Soil Resource’s (BWSR) original goal was to restore up to 60,000 acres over 54 counties in southern Minnesota through CREP but will likely end around 40,000 due to funds running out. Notes from the Granite Area Arts Council

Jessie Hennen Granite Area Arts Council Last week’s first-ever Open Studio hours at the Makers on the Minnesota gallery (every Thursday from 2-5pm!) were a rousing success… in that they coincided with our CAIR staff meeting, which meant the people who run your community artist in residence program talked shop for a while, then headed to the basement of the building to spray-paint its pillars with colorful designs. It was a productive session: we came up with a lot of potential slogans for our program! Though the spray paint fumes were intense and my notes are – well – somewhat less than legible, I think I canmake out a few…“GF CAIR 2.0: Art!‘Cause why not?”“We’re all just puppets, man.” “Group of people come together to make things sometimes! Degrees of success vary.” “Cobwebs, cobwebs everywhere…” (Oh, no, that was just something Ali moaned while struggling to hold up a stencil.) “All things are like the river.
