“The earth brought forth vegetation…

Growing up on a farm in southwestern Minnesota gave me a perspective that I had taken for granted until one of my recent seminary classes titled “Bible and Ecology.” For this class we were assigned many readings and we spent two nights and three days out on the southern Minnesota prairie, staying at Shalom Hill Farm near Windom, Minnesota. While there, we visited the Cottonwood Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) office and learned about the importance of the watershed in the area, as well as some of the optional practices that are eligible for local farmers through the MN CREP (Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program).

Registration begins at 9 a.m. with introductions and safety talk at 9:30, 10 a.m. to noon is group lead station rotation, followed by a meal and prizes. Youth/ Children of all ages up to 18 years old, adult supervision required. Free event. Everyone welcome. Everything is provided.

Advanced screening of new Ken Burns documentary scheduled at Fagen Fighters WWII Museum

Jessica Stölen-Jacobson On September 8th, the Fagen Fighters WWII Museum will host an advanced screening of a new documentary by long-time filmmaker, director and producer for PBS, Ken Burns, with Lynn Novick and Sarah Botstein. The event is in partnership with the Jewish Community Relations Council of Minnesota and the Dakotas.
