LORRAINE HARRIET GULLICKSON
Lorraine Harriet Gullickson, born in Granite Falls on July 18, 1928, died at the age of 94. Lorraine is preceded in death by her husband Richard W. Gullickson; sons Jeffry R. Gullickson and Joel A. Gullickson; grandson Derek R. Gullickson; parents Harry A. Berg and Mary B. Oftedahl Berg; siblings Kathleen V. Braumann, Arthur Berg, Stanley Berg, and Linnae


Macy DeSplinter qualifies for BPA Nationals
Minnesota West Community & Technical College Business Professionals of America, Minnesota West Chapter recently participated in the 2023 Business Professionals of America (BPA) College Division State Leadership Conference. Macy DeSplinter, Business Management AS major, earned second place in the post-secondary Interview Skills judged competition. She also earned second place in the Meeting and Event Planning Concepts open event. Macy is now eligible to attend the National Leadership Conference to be held in Anaheim, CA the end of April.

New Montevideo Veterans Home on track to open this fall
For more than a decade, Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs (MDVA) leaders closely collaborated with city, county and state elected officials and a Veterans’ stakeholders task force to plan the Montevideo Veterans Home. Communities were highly engaged in the process, with efforts ranging from testifying at the Legislature and donating land for the building to raising additional funds in support of special amenities. Public groundbreaking programs were hosted in summer 2021. Montevideo will join five other existing Homes throughout the state and two other new sites that are also opening in 2023 (Preston and Bemidji), bringing the total number of State Veterans Homes to eight.

Chippewa Valley Youth Club plans to open summer program once again
From Staff Reports Chippewa Valley Youth Club has plans in 2023 to open their summer program back up in order to better assist families utilizing the program to have quality child care in the summer. Currently, Chippewa Valley Youth Club has also been working on redecorating their aftercare rooms.

Fagen, Inc celebrates 35 years in business in Granite Falls in 2023. The business was founded in 1998 by Ron and Diane Fagen, performing industrial construction work.

Brock and his wife Hillary say they were blessed with the opportunity to be employed and partners with Dr. Brad Moseng of Moseng Chiropractic for nearly five years prior to the transition at the beginning of 2021.

MSU student seeking local stories about 9/11 impact
Jack Baumbach, a Minnesota State University student, and Minnesota Military and Veterans Museum Intern has been working on research for a book project the museum is planning to publish this summer/fall that will be a retrospective book on Minnesota’s involvement in 9/11 and the War on Terror.
