Historic building comes down in Clarkfield

Late last week, work began to demolish one of the historic buildings in Clarkfield, located at the intersection of Highway 59. The building was once home to one of Clarkfield’s early businesses, Farmer’s Co-op Creamery Association, but has been vacant for some time. The property is now owned by the cooperative gas station next door, and the removal of the building will allow for space for the service station to add new gas pumps.

Maker’s Market to return to River Walk this summer

The annual Maker’s Market is returning to the River Walk this summer beginning in the month of June. Rose Chambs will be one of the vendors at the market this summer with her handmade goods under the business name Chambs Creations. Her best sellers are her personalized signs, cups, and window decals. Chambs says, “Apart from cups and bottles, I’ve been trying to have items that people don’t usually have at vendor shows, I’ve been doing a ton of new projects this year and people love them!”

MnDOT launches first multimodal trip planner to focus on rural transportation services

Mobile app to make travel easier in Greater Minnesota, Rochester, Mankato When a person wants to take a trip across the country, they can choose from a variety of travel planning apps to help make that happen. But what if the trip they want to take is from Mankato to New Ulm, or within their own community, using non-personal transportation? The Minnesota Department of Transportation has launched a pilot project to bring trip planning and payment technology for daily trips in areas less dense than in an urban setting.

Echo Lions Club plans new activities to raise funds for park updates

The Echo Lions Club, established in 1963 currenly has eleven members that work together to host a number of opportunities for the community to come together for a good time. Most recently, the group has hosted events such as the Santa Days event prior to Christmas that included a visit from Santa and free turkey/ ham BINGO, a winter BINGO event, and the annual Echo Days community festival held the third weekend in August.
